The Ajax Soccer Club
(ASC)
The Ajax Soccer Club has been a part of our Town
since 1968. Starting as the Ajax Warriors Soccer Club
by a group of volunteers wanting to bring the sport of
soccer to the youth within the community, over the years
the club has grown and changed. In 2002 we merged with
the Village Soccer Club, another club operating within
Ajax to form what we now call the Ajax Soccer Club.
Due to the popularity of the sport we are not the
only youth soccer organization within Ajax; however, we
do offer the most complete selection of programs under
one roof?
ASC hosts not only recreational but also competitive
levels of play and we do this in both the outdoor and
indoor seasons. We have a club coach, Alan Southard,
who has developed a club staff coaching program that has
allowed our coaches to further develop their skills at
both the competitive and house league levels.
We sponsor referee training programs and provide
employment opportunities for young referees who wish to
hone their skills at interpreting the rules of the game.
Overall, ASC teaches soccer skills and promotes fair
play among participants and their families, spectators
staff and volunteers; we do this while working to
provide a quality experience for all age groups from 4
year olds to young adults (U23) at both recreational and
competitive levels. The Club also provides the
opportunity for players to become resourceful and
responsible members of their community through the game
of soccer, for their mental, physical, social and
leadership development.
As one of Durham's largest soccer clubs we take our
soccer seriously while still maintaining the correct
level of FUN!
Volunteers
The ASC is run by volunteers. Players and parents are
strongly encouraged to get involved and help the club to
flourish. The club relies on its member's talents and
interests for its many activities. So if you have a
skill to share, let us know.
The club also has many opportunities for high school
students interested in volunteering as part of their
community service requirements.
